All black for fall -- groundbreaking.
I am on a mission to make this slimming shade fun this Autumn. In an attempt to avoid being named the microtrend final boss by teenagers on TikTok, I am using cheetah print, bloomers, and cherry print sparingly. However, that doesn't mean I can't add a little Pinterest-y spice to my monochrome outfits this season.
First, I will be immediately contradicting myself and incorporating cheetah/leopard print (same thing IMO) into my all-black outfits. BUT, we are doing couture, runway, stylish, NOT Drea de Matteo in the Sopranos.
OPTION #1
Here, I had a neutral base (blue stripes are neutral IDC) and added black tights, boots, and a blazer. To give it a little extra edge, I tied a cheetah scarf around my waist. This helped give me a little shape under the oversized outerwear, while also doing a little pattern mixing, which I adore.
OPTION #2
I am really into mixing metals lately, so I had no choice but to buy a second pair of silver pants to add to my collection. I have also been loving layering flowy pieces, like this lace dress and black tiered Free People skirt. Note how I am wearing the skirt as a top -- REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE your clothes people!
OPTION #3
Let's get a little slinky, a little revealing, a little GNO energy going. Below I put together this gorgeous vintage two-way zipper blazer with a plain black skirt. It sounds simple, but it gives sleek, '90s, LBD.
OPTION #4
Finally, I have a personal favorite and constantly-reworn look. This summery two piece set becomes autumnal when paired with black tights and a leather trench. One of my favorite things to do to make pieces feel new is to layer a plain turtleneck underneath; it makes the outfit look more thoughtful while still being comfortable and easy.
I could go on about the versatility of black frocks for fall for days. But I won't bore you. Hopefully, this little peek into my autumn wardrobe will provide a little inspiration to rework your wardrobe and add a little spice to an otherwise monochromatic look.
