Nothing speaks to me quite like a faux leather pant.

I have been carefully curating a collection of pleather pants over the past few years (or binge-shopping more pairs than any sane human needs). A leather pant is a great way to dress up an outfit or add an edge that a jean or legging just cannot provide.

The key for me is purchasing faux leather. As someone who tries to be as eco-conscious as possible, I hate to admit that a fair few of my leather bottoms have been bought from fast-fashion retailers. However, I prefer to avoid real leather at all costs, for the environmental impact and for the sake of my bank account.

A common misconception about leather pants is that they typically coincide with more revealing outfits (see above, oops). But when styled correctly, a black leather legging can be worn to more places than Bowery Electric.

Try pairing an oversized sweater vest with black leather leggings and some platform boots, and you have a look for brunch, running errands, or just sitting at home (hello, COVID).

In the past, I've worn my all time favorite black turtleneck with a pair of Missguided black boyfriend leather cargo pants. Though it was a more covered-up look, it worked perfectly for a day spent drunkenly hobbling around Dublin.

Leather has always been a style staple, but it's having a serious moment RFN. Brown leather is a monochromatic look seen all over Insta, and a black leather trench is a versatile necessity.

Throw on a longline leather coat over a sweatsuit for a casual look or dress it up with vintage Levis and chunky heeled booties. This vintage Jones New York coat is my new favorite staple. Check out Poshmark, Depop, or Curtsy for secondhand trendy options.
